That girl in black.... and other fashion colors

You've heard about her. Most likely you've even seen her. I hear she gets around.

I Loved Your Mom Because I'm Sexy and I Do What I Want

Monday is setting an annoying precedent for the week. So nothing but fluff for a post today.

This is funny - type out the sentence you end up with in the subject line and forward to your friends....and also, send it back to the person that sent it to you.

Pick the month you were born:

January--I kicked
February--I loved
March--I smoked
April--I dry humped
May--I choked on
June--I murdered
July--I did the Macarena with
August--I had lunch with
September--I danced with
October--I sang to
November--I yelled at
December--I ran over

Pick the day (number) you were born on:

1-------a birdbath
2-------a monster
3-------a phone
4-------a fork
5-------a Mexican
6-------a gangster
7-------my cell phone
8-------my dog
9-------my best friends' boyfriend
10-------my neighbor
11-------my science teacher
12-------a banana
13-------a fireman
14-------a stuffed animal
15-------a goat
16-------a pickle
17-------your mom
18-------a spoon
19-------myself
20-------a baseball bat
21-------a ninja
22-------Chuck Norris
23-------a noodle
24-------a squirrel
25-------a football player
26-------my sister
27-------my brother
28-------an ipod
29-------a permanent marker
30-------a llama
31-------A homeless guy

Pick the color of shirt you are wearing:

White----------because I'm cool like that
Black-----------because that's how I roll.
Pink------------because I'm NOT a homosexual.
Red------------because the voices told me to.
Blue-----------because I'm sexy and I do what I want
Green---------because I hate myself.
Purple---------because I'm cool.
Gray----------because I was drunk
Yellow--------because someone offered me million dollars
Orange-------because I hate my family.
Brown--------because I was high.
Other-------because I'm a ninja.
None--------because I cant control myself

Now type out the sentence you made in the subject line and forward to your friends. And don't forget to send it back to the person that sent it to you

You can forget to send it back to me. That was just part of the chain email.

Because I Can

I was going to title this entry "I'm Not Dead", since it seemed a while since posting. But then I got to looking around, and didn't feel so bad. Degolar's been the best at timely posting.

And then I got to thinking about P!nk, as that is the title of her latest album, as well as the album I was listening to on the drive up to the city. I went to find the Goddess' final resting place, as I hadn't yet. Previous trips to the city either didn't allow me enough time, or the company wasn't appropriate for a side errand.

So... I'm not dead, and Because I Can is also the name of a song on the P!nk album. It's a good, solid album. The drive back, I revisited Terence Trent D'Arby's "The Hardline..." He's changed his name, and his sound... but his first is still an album worth owning. The singer for Gnarls Barkley reminds me a LOT of him. But then, I suppose they are both suppose to remind me of Sam Cooke. Before my time. Sorry, Dad.

Worked customers for my CM mentor yesterday. It didn't totally suck. But it was a long day. Didn't work on D's work album much. Finished up San Franciso pictures today. Next trip (out of order, though) is Scottsdale/PHX. Albuquerque was actually after San Fran. That trip was not only a drag, as he was on the opposite side of town from the old town stuff... but he was also grounded there after airflight was suspended September 11, 2001. Not a lot of pictures from that trip. But after those two trips, I'll be about half done with a eight-city tour. I guess life as a rockstar is tough.

This Ain't Your Society Wedding...

My exsister-in-law, and longtime girlfriend, is getting married. After waiting (many) years to wear her boy down and make her legal, they are doing it up right. They're flying out to Vegas to get married at sunset in the above locale. Looks pretty dang cool! Other than it will be in the desert, so it may actually be hot... you get the idea.

Valley of Fire

Only two months away, September 30, Yikes! I just got home from trottin' about the countryside. And you KNOW it that only details about the wedding ceremony itself are following us home. This is gonna have to be a no-cameras-allowed trip. It's a guaranteed good time when her first attendant is leaving a BDSM convention in San Fran to join us. I can't wait to see what she brings for a bridal gift!

Five, NOT Four, Days Later

... details at eleven.

The time with the family? VERY fun. We had an easy time going out, with no problems.

Our return travel, however? It overshadowed the entire effort.

Here's the breakdown [in a manner so Degolar won't feel too old ;P ]

One, one missed flight, due to
Two, two screwed up codesharing airlines (and oh yeah, a stupid third party vendor...regardless of how cute their gnome promo)
Three, three NFL stadiums
Four, four bags presumed lost forever (thankfully not!)
Five, five towns without any overnight hotel rooms available
Six, six states
Seven(teen), seven(teen) hours of driving
Eight, eight.... I want to forget all the junk food we ate on the way back
Nine, nine for (almost) lost hope
10, 1085 miles... and everything, everything, everything we went through....

US Airways can kiss off into the air
Behind my back I can see them stare
They'll hurt me bad but I won't mind
They'll hurt me bad, they do it all the time
[yeah yeah]
Yeah, they do it all the time
[yeah yeah]
They do it all the time
[do it all the time]
They do it all the time
[do it all the time]
They do it all the time
Do it all the time!

After I get some damn sleep, they are going to hear about it. I have never seen an airline be so UNhelpful, and rude. Especially in their flagship hub airport.

We are just exceedingly grateful to be home. North Carolina is beautiful. We really enjoyed seeing the family. Amy and Scott's girls are beyond precious. I would have packed them up and snuck them home if I could. It was great to meet Terry and her awesome girls. Monster boy thinks cousin Courtney is pretty cool!

Almost 200 pictures. With memorabilia, it will make a full book.

Only after sleep.

Against the Clock

Not only am I trying to get this posted before a maintenance outage, but we're getting ready to leave.

We're off to visit some inlaws. Catch up with my linked blogs, or be highly entertained by a couple of choice posts:

PS: New season of Miami Ink starts tonight. Too bad I'll probably be asleep by then. I hate the heat, makes me tired!

It's Official

Monster boy is the tallest member of the house. Although D is leaning over a bit, monster has crested the peak. He's too tall for his bike in this photo, so he's inherited my bike, in front of D.

Until we have time to find another bike for me... I'm on the kiddie bike. Fortunately the training wheels were already removed.

Meh

Pirates movie was... okay. Keira Knightley would have looked better if she wore a wig instead of hair extensions. Oh yeah, and also if she weren't as flat as a cabin boy. But Bill Nighy and Stellan Skarsgaard? LOVE them. The special effects were worth the price of admission. Though just a matinee, not full price.

PS: Orlando Bloom is INFINITELY hotter as a brunette. Whoa, mama! I'm also going to enjoy disliking Jack Davenport's navy officer character. Handsome villians make it all the easier.

PPS: I don't know, Gobula... that Kevin Costner water movie didn't look THAT bad. At least he's not writing this one. He's just a hired gun in this one. Okay, so Ashton doesn't make a terribly convincing badass. But at least I can make fun of his bad haircut.

Weekend Agenda

I'm an Aquarian... so there's a lot of lists in my life:

1. Finish up chores and pick up house
2. "Pirates" movie
3. Make of list of must-go items for NC
4. Clean/prepare/pack said items
5. Start D's work scrap book in between obligations

That reminds me, I need to have Betz help me finish the little girls' book. That came out pretty dang cute. How can you go wrong with a paper pack named Groovy Girl?

More later on what we thought of the pirate movie. Me and the monster are going to the earliest show we can. I'm so proud of my geek child!

Not sure how this is Celtic-- but makes me feel pretty all the same...

You Are A Cedar Tree

You are elegant yet unpretentious, modest yet vivacious.

Attractive and friendly, you are full of imagination but might lack passion.

You abhor vulgar people, and you don't like anything in excess.

You have little more ambition than to live a calm life and enjoy nature.

You create a content, peaceful atmosphere for others.

WHOA!

*** I realized today the book link previously posted was wrong. It went to her previous book, from 2003. So yes, I flashed myself the L, and updated the hyperlink.****

Holy chit! I'm a little shocked, and excited about this update on Pamela Ribon's site:

July 11, 2006
What's Up, Topeka?!
I'll be at the Topeka and Shawnee County Library on September 2nd. I'll be reading from the new book, answering questions, signing things that may or may not be your breasts, and generally dorking-out right in front of your very eyes.

She'll also be pimping her crusade to help the Dewey Donation System. DDS helps restock public libraries in need.

AND! By then I can have her sign her book due in August.

It would appear I have a serious girl crush.

W00t!

Happy Birthday, Bubba!

Today is my rockstar brother's birthday.

Not *only* does he live in the happenin' mecca of Seattle, have an awesome pharmacist job, symbolize all things cool and hip... but also (along with his adorable bride) dropped half a mil on a starter home. Freakin' overachiever! Granted, half a mil in Seattle is a lot different than BFE Kansas. Impressive, all the same!

Happy birthday, brother. We can't wait to come and see y'all again soon. Monster is getting old enough, his mom won't totally freak out to put him on a plane by himself. Though I just realized... if I tell monster he can go by himself, then I miss an opportunity to go as well! Guess he's not quite old enough, then. : P

Enjoy your day!

Since I'm Looking Scary, Anyway...

I'm not sure whether to be offended by my monster portrait. Or the fact they'd consider me psychotic...

Waste of a Weekend

I'm sick. : (

Had a weird cough yesterday, dry throat. Thought it was just allergies. But did think it odd I felt no relief after med dosing. Realize WHY after waking up this morning. Sweet jesus, I feel like crap. Not so good timing. Though not a surprise, given the hyper pace of this last week, and not ingesting a daily multivitamin for the past couple weeks.

Shuffled around for a bit, trying to figure out what I could do without having to change out of my pajamas. I was grumpy at the prospect of losing production time, as I only have one week left to finish two simple scrapbooks. These books have to go with us to NC.. one for Scott's girls, and one for Scott of a camping trip he and D took almost twenty years ago. Beyond all the packing, work, blah blah blah.

A pajamas weekend is a great time to scrapbook. But I couldn't go downstairs to my room, since the air conditioner works TOO well in the basement. Didn't feel like packing on the parka. I also didn't really want to sit at the dining room table, bothers my back after awhile. I used to sit a card table up in the living room with my favorite chair. But the chair sits lower than the table, and sitting on the edge of the chair hurts my back and neck after awhile. Would they consider neck aches a sports injury, if incurred from marathon scrapbooking?

Boyfriend wanted to be helpful, so he set up the card table in the living room. And I obediently agreed to his terms of not sitting in my comfy chair, but using a dining chair to sit properly. Monster boy joined me for a bit and worked on his stuff. It bothers me a bit the table is sprawled out in the middle of my wannabe feng shui open space. So I'm trying to find some type of lap desk that I can lay across the comfy chair. Until then, here's my agenda for the weekend:

PS: I love my bad kitty backpack!

Two For Friday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENN! It's Darren's younger sister's birfday today, too!

Happy Birthday, Bride!

It's a day to honor my girl Sharon. While she'll surely kick my ass for posting this pic... at least it's better than the one of us sans makeup, getting ready for her wedding!

Happy birthday, sis! I know what your husband got for you, neener neener neener!

Ice Cream=Wonder Cure

Dude... are there many things in life more perfect than a peanut butter fudge shake and tater tots? Especially if eaten together, perfectly flavored and fried?

I say not. Sonic is my hero today.

Things are much better than 24 hours ago. While not convinced my truck is totally reliable, the battery was replaced and has been starting without fail. D fixed the central air, saving us a service visit. My cell has been intermittently flaky, but I discovered a trick to convince the lighting to work properly.

Life is good.

But it still will be a long while before I use boyfriend's check card again. Ain't no sense in tempting fate.

Shouldn't There Be a Grace Period?

Ok, I REALIZE my last post was "this month is going to suck". But jesus, could it NOT have waited until tomorrow to start? I'm only a 44% cynical person according to this quiz. After tonight, however, I may have to reevaluate my perspective.

1. I used b/f's check card at the store tonight, before asking him (So already feeling guilty**).

2. My truck won't start after coming out of the store. Beyond the fact we already had to make a dash in the rain to get IN the store! Turn it over, no lights, no power, nothing. ACK! I went through this last summer! New battery cables, new battery... after about the fourth time into the shop, some nimrod finally figures out some wiring was fried! Thanks so much, John Hoffer!

3. Cut to busting off a call on the cell for rescue. My cell screen is almost black! What the fuq has happened to my phone? Missy, has this happened to you? This pisses me off to no end!

All in all, we got home fine, and I know D won't care about using his card. But problems with my new phone have me twerked. I just got the stupid thing! I can't even see the display enough to tell if I'm dialing a number correctly. And of course it failed AFTER the cell store closed. With tomorrow being a holiday, I would not imagine they will be open, either.

Jesus, I need a drink.

PS: This last tidbit did restore a bit of my humour for the night. I haven't decided if I'll watch it or not. Talent shows are painful enough to sit through. But the thought, of what kind of music they'll put out once a decision is made? That is almost scary.

**Not too much, really. It was under $30 of groceries. I didn't take his card without his knowing. It just happened to still be in my purse. Not that it is ALL the time... that's just how the weekend ended.

Preventive Maintenance

After reading my horoscopes today, it would seem July will be a difficult month:

Today
Sun Sign Aquarius

You might find yourself on center stage today, dear Aquarius, as situations heat up and tension rises. It is possible that conflict comes into the picture as egos inflate and people become stubborn in regard to doing things their own way. The thing to keep in mind, however, is that there are unexpected variables likely to be brought into the fold, making it challenging to plan your next mode of attack. Play it by ear.

This Month
Sun Sign Aquarius
Open up the lines of communication on July 2, 3, and 4. For the next few weeks there may be a lot of problems in your communications and plans. The week of July 10 will be memorable, but not for the best reasons. Responsibilities will be heavy, power struggles will surface, and someone will oppose your efforts. On July 19 be realistic about a situation in your life. Be ready for the unexpected on July 21. You'll need to focus during the last week of the month.

Just freaking fantastic! Part of this aggravation is that Mercury (the planet governing communication) is in retrograde this week. Then it moves to Cancer, a water sign, full of emotional sensitivity and passive-agressive feedback.

We go to NC July 19-22. Nothing adds fun to the stress of traveling than unexpected circumstances. Especially when you're not close to home. It also never fails, that right before we try to go somewhere, I end up having crazy clients and frantic project deadlines.

So folks, let it be known now.... I am going to try my best to not be crazy this month. Please do the same.

If I say something to piss you off, it is not intentional. Likewise, I hope you don't consciously attempt to antagonize me. Because although I may try to frame my reply in a respectful manner, it might not come across as the most patient.

I love the saying "life is what happens when you're making other plans". Things change. I realize drama and winging things on the fly is never much fun. But in the grand scheme of things (to me, at least) it is not a big deal at all.

Hopefully July will come to realize that as well.

Fashion Decisions

We're off to the soccer game. It's only 92 degrees, ha!

But I don't have any royal blue shirts. So what's a girl to do?

Guess I'll be wearing black. Big surprise there, eh?
