That girl in black.... and other fashion colors

You've heard about her. Most likely you've even seen her. I hear she gets around.

For the Record...

Having precognitive dreams freaks me the bleep out. It's groovy when something nice is going to happen. Not so much when they make me feel bad.

Reasonably, the only ones I really remember are when I'm under stress, or (as recently) in pain. Part of me would be happy to quit my job and research this on a full-time basis. I would love to cultivate broader access to Camille. Realistically, it is not feasible.

I'll be happy when my body thinks it's back to normal. As much as the girl gets. No snide comments from Igor!

Lyndy Weeps

Everclear is playing the Tempe Music Festival March 31 (this Saturday night)....

I don't arrive in Phoenix until the following Monday.

WAH!!

Though I guess it's better I miss the show... my boss wouldn't appreciate me abandoning her for a number of hours. And I am too cheap to buy her a ticket to go with me.

Not that I *wouldn't*, that she doesn't *deserve* it. Lovely woman, and LOTS of fun... but she likes country music.

Oy! Good thing we have margaritas in common.

Reality Is a Harsh Mistress

I finally have to admit out loud that I've lost my Camille necklace. This makes me upset beyond belief.

I don't even quite know how I lost it. Rather, I have a pretty good idea HOW, just not WHEN. It just makes me feel stupid, and sick, and sad.

Flashback to last week: I decided I needed a new purse to cheer me up. While it wasn't the price of a Coach bag, it was more than I'd averaged on my Payless employee-discounted purses.

Mid-Saturday morning, one of the side braids popped off. Being the practical gal I am, I refused to keep a defective bag, given its expense.

Saturday was a busy day (birthday weekend and all!), but it was also the day I was determined to do my exchange, as I was going out with the girls that night. (Oy, my head just throbbed in rememberance! : P)

So I think between switching purses three times (couldn't decide what backup purse was sparky enough for the occasion, you know), the lawn and garden show, my hair appointment, the purse return, a jaunt to Lawrence since our Target didn't have the one I wanted, then out with the girls (and this was all after noon, mind you!)

... I've managed to lose my amethyst pendant necklace. Which I really freaking need right now, since my brain is running about a bazillion miles an hour.

I even remember as I was changing bags, or rummaging through one, telling myself "you should put that on. You've had it on almost ever day since she's been gone. Put it on, or put it in the house, or you'll lose it."

You probably wouldn't be surprised to find I don't always heed my own advice. I'm stubborn like that.

Right now, I just feel like crying. Yes, I realize the world is not going to come to an end, and I know the Goddess would not be offended... but I still feel awful. It's just one more piece of her I've lost, and one more reminder of how much I miss her.

Damnit

Stupid Blogger

For some reason, my stupid blog page would not display today.

So then, I upgrade to Glogger... which I really hate.

Now my stupid page STILL doesn't display.

Dumb Glogger.

Good thing D already took us out to dinner. Or I'd really be twerked about the day.

People, Please!

Like Ali, I have to work on my holiday enthusiasm this year. I enjoy being together with the family, since it's about the only time we can coordinate schedules. And although it's not my rock star's favorite environment... I love all the chattering and general shenanigans of loud and loving people socializing.

Yet with my sister's separation and pending divorce, and my youngest brother worrying about the mortality of his mother-in-law... the search for perfect gifts to give seems more a burden than joy. Most likely since we're all to the point in our lives where we can afford to obtain that which we need, no matter what time of the year. We're also a practical lot, and would rather give you a gift card or cash rather than buy you something you won't enjoy or use.

As well, I make sure the bills are paid before I go holiday shopping. So while I will eventually look forward to shopping for my boys, it wasn't first on my agenda the day after Thanksgiving. Fortunately, I have a couple of leave days yet to burn. That is likely when my shopping commence, as my retail part-time gig blocks upcoming evenings and weekends.

Understanding all that... imagine my disbelief when I overheard the following question:

"Finished your Christmas shopping yet?"

Oy freaking vey!

No Excuses, Then I Know

So Jerry Cantrell wants to continue making a living off the Alice in Chains band name. Got themselves a new lead singer, and a tour VH1 promotes for them eighteen times an hour.

I suppose he should be allowed to do that... it's a free country. But isn't it a *tad* bit, oh, say... TACKY?!?

Granted, if they are Cantrell's songs, he can has the right to perform them no matter whom sings. And, it's not the first time bands have continued on to heightened success (Brian Johnson says "thank you, Bon Scott!") It just seems a bit cheap to continue using the Alice in Chains name.

Or maybe I'm just upset at the fact ten years have passed too quickly, after remembering where I was at the time most of their music was put out. Kinda feels like The Surreal Life... without all the bad plastic surgery, and (not likely) accidental flashing. Don't worry, booze and crazy behaviour are still welcome!

Just Great!

I am a fairly paranoid person, even when feeling healthy. So after two days of being ill (chills, pills, it was no thrill, kids)... this is the horoscope I get?!?

Daily Extended Forecast for November 03, 2006
Provided by Astrology.com

Exploring your surroundings in greater detail is never a waste of time -- especially now, when things are entering a great state of flux. Even if it doesn't feel that way, things are about to change very quickly -- and very dramatically. Make a special effort to get a clearer picture of the way things are now, so you'll better understand how things change. Appreciating the difference is the best way to learn a valuable lesson about how you can grow

Aren't horoscopes supposed to be motivating or vaguely supportive? Criminy!

Being an Adult Sucks

My darling, wonderful, child is making my head want to asplode. He really is such a good and kind child most all the time.

When he's not, I hate being a tough parent.

Five More Years...

All the longer I have to deal with my exhusband. In his effort to be an asshole to me, pointing out my deficiencies as a parent, he makes my child feel inadequate. For this, I want to hurt him.

Especially since he (and his wife) say they are Christians and love Evan as much as their own children. I hope they are reminded of those declarations when they stand in judgment.

We have been divorced almost 10 years, and it's astonishing how little he's matured. It's especially frustrating, since he does and behaves just enough to keep me from winning sole custody.

Now all I want is my boy back tomorrow, away from him and the house of drama. And if my exhusband should fall upon bad luck, I wouldn't be sad for him. Jerk.

There Is No Justification

No one in the world needs another season of "Flavor of Love".

Much less a countdown timer ruining what could have been an otherwise enjoyable trip down memory lane during "I Love the 90s".

But almost as annoying are the Sunsilk queens and their annoying "Lust, Love, or Leave" critique of the Flav women. Sister, PLEASE! Have some dignity.

Five, NOT Four, Days Later

... details at eleven.

The time with the family? VERY fun. We had an easy time going out, with no problems.

Our return travel, however? It overshadowed the entire effort.

Here's the breakdown [in a manner so Degolar won't feel too old ;P ]

One, one missed flight, due to
Two, two screwed up codesharing airlines (and oh yeah, a stupid third party vendor...regardless of how cute their gnome promo)
Three, three NFL stadiums
Four, four bags presumed lost forever (thankfully not!)
Five, five towns without any overnight hotel rooms available
Six, six states
Seven(teen), seven(teen) hours of driving
Eight, eight.... I want to forget all the junk food we ate on the way back
Nine, nine for (almost) lost hope
10, 1085 miles... and everything, everything, everything we went through....

US Airways can kiss off into the air
Behind my back I can see them stare
They'll hurt me bad but I won't mind
They'll hurt me bad, they do it all the time
[yeah yeah]
Yeah, they do it all the time
[yeah yeah]
They do it all the time
[do it all the time]
They do it all the time
[do it all the time]
They do it all the time
Do it all the time!

After I get some damn sleep, they are going to hear about it. I have never seen an airline be so UNhelpful, and rude. Especially in their flagship hub airport.

We are just exceedingly grateful to be home. North Carolina is beautiful. We really enjoyed seeing the family. Amy and Scott's girls are beyond precious. I would have packed them up and snuck them home if I could. It was great to meet Terry and her awesome girls. Monster boy thinks cousin Courtney is pretty cool!

Almost 200 pictures. With memorabilia, it will make a full book.

Only after sleep.

Waste of a Weekend

I'm sick. : (

Had a weird cough yesterday, dry throat. Thought it was just allergies. But did think it odd I felt no relief after med dosing. Realize WHY after waking up this morning. Sweet jesus, I feel like crap. Not so good timing. Though not a surprise, given the hyper pace of this last week, and not ingesting a daily multivitamin for the past couple weeks.

Shuffled around for a bit, trying to figure out what I could do without having to change out of my pajamas. I was grumpy at the prospect of losing production time, as I only have one week left to finish two simple scrapbooks. These books have to go with us to NC.. one for Scott's girls, and one for Scott of a camping trip he and D took almost twenty years ago. Beyond all the packing, work, blah blah blah.

A pajamas weekend is a great time to scrapbook. But I couldn't go downstairs to my room, since the air conditioner works TOO well in the basement. Didn't feel like packing on the parka. I also didn't really want to sit at the dining room table, bothers my back after awhile. I used to sit a card table up in the living room with my favorite chair. But the chair sits lower than the table, and sitting on the edge of the chair hurts my back and neck after awhile. Would they consider neck aches a sports injury, if incurred from marathon scrapbooking?

Boyfriend wanted to be helpful, so he set up the card table in the living room. And I obediently agreed to his terms of not sitting in my comfy chair, but using a dining chair to sit properly. Monster boy joined me for a bit and worked on his stuff. It bothers me a bit the table is sprawled out in the middle of my wannabe feng shui open space. So I'm trying to find some type of lap desk that I can lay across the comfy chair. Until then, here's my agenda for the weekend:

PS: I love my bad kitty backpack!

Shouldn't There Be a Grace Period?

Ok, I REALIZE my last post was "this month is going to suck". But jesus, could it NOT have waited until tomorrow to start? I'm only a 44% cynical person according to this quiz. After tonight, however, I may have to reevaluate my perspective.

1. I used b/f's check card at the store tonight, before asking him (So already feeling guilty**).

2. My truck won't start after coming out of the store. Beyond the fact we already had to make a dash in the rain to get IN the store! Turn it over, no lights, no power, nothing. ACK! I went through this last summer! New battery cables, new battery... after about the fourth time into the shop, some nimrod finally figures out some wiring was fried! Thanks so much, John Hoffer!

3. Cut to busting off a call on the cell for rescue. My cell screen is almost black! What the fuq has happened to my phone? Missy, has this happened to you? This pisses me off to no end!

All in all, we got home fine, and I know D won't care about using his card. But problems with my new phone have me twerked. I just got the stupid thing! I can't even see the display enough to tell if I'm dialing a number correctly. And of course it failed AFTER the cell store closed. With tomorrow being a holiday, I would not imagine they will be open, either.

Jesus, I need a drink.

PS: This last tidbit did restore a bit of my humour for the night. I haven't decided if I'll watch it or not. Talent shows are painful enough to sit through. But the thought, of what kind of music they'll put out once a decision is made? That is almost scary.

**Not too much, really. It was under $30 of groceries. I didn't take his card without his knowing. It just happened to still be in my purse. Not that it is ALL the time... that's just how the weekend ended.
