You Can't Fix Crazy
I would, however.... like to choke and beat the ever-livin' snot out of it.
Started off my day (and week!) with a call from my state program manager for appeals. She always starts off most conversations in an accusatory tone. A downside to being a contractor is that everything is our fault. Even when we are saving their bacon. But they never remember that kind of stuff.
After listening to her tell me I changed mode of operation without her permission or approval (she's a control freak), I tried to tell her (in a diplomatic way, of course) three times she was reading the document wrong, and we hadn't changed anything in 10 years.
This is only 8:30am, mind you.
Finally she actually reads the document, and finally admits the reason she had her panties in a bunch was due to a political fight on their side of the fence. As is most of the time she calls me up wound. She probably didn't appreciate my "we'll be happy to change the wording to your preference. I'll just need an email or something in writing to keep on file." Too bad. Get burned enough times, and you start keeping a documentation file.
The part that probably aggravates me more than anything, is the lack of support from my team's state program manager. While I have a woman I report to for appeals, my team's program manager over utilization review is *less* than inspiring. It's just a downer, since the woman we had at Blue was a LOT smarter, nicer, and willing to defend us against their political reindeer games. Not so much anymore.
